Dr Nikam is working as a Professor and Head at Radiotherapy & Oncology Department, Cama & Albless Hospitals, Grant Government Medical College & J. J. Group Of Hospitals, Mumbai.He is credited to establish a wonderful cancer treatment centre where all modern facilities for chemotherapy and radiation therapy such as state -of- the- art machines including Linear Accelerator with dedicated 64 slice CT Simulator. The radiotherapy techniques such as 2-D, 3-D conformal RT, IGRT, IGMT, Rapid arc, stereotactic radiotherapy/stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS/SRT) are available.He considers it as his biggest contribution towards society for getting a state of art technology at government set up, where daily 100- 150 poor and needy cancer patients are taking treatment at free or nominal cost. He has been part of many government committees for designing and implementing the policies for cancer care and treatment.He takes keen interest in arranging and participating in Cancer Awareness camp/Early Cancer Detection Camp at remote areas where facilities are not easily accessible. He has been awarded with SANMAN PATRA AWARD and certificate by Honourable Chief Minister, Government of Maharashtra for his social services.He is considered as one of the best experts available in India for Gynaecological, Breast and Head and Neck cancer. His special interests are delivering radiotherapy with advance techniques such as Rapid arc, IGRT, IMRT and Adaptive Radiotherapy.

He has completed special Advanced Clincal Training for IMRT/Rapid Arc at IOSI- Intituto Oncologico Della SvizzeraItaliana, Bellinzona, Switzerland in April 2011 and IGRT training at Zug, Switzerland in February 2012.
